CALIO MUSIC was hired in July 2018 with the ambitious goal of licensing and promoting music for the 2018 Hour of Code Dance Party program launching in November of the same year. With the support of artists and their representatives, from Katy Perry to J Balvin and Bruno Mars, the result was gratifying. The tutorial being the most popular with students K-12, participation by over 200,000 classrooms worldwide, and more than 200 million streams of licensed songs. The program continues to be a favorite of students worldwide, now in it’s 6th year and going strong.
in 2023, Calio Music was engaged to license music for a second program for the Code.org curriculum involving challenging and new rights. In May of 2024, the new program, Music Lab, was launched with an incredible roster including The Chainsmokers and Aloe Blaac among others, and with the support of all 3 majors and the major publishers. In the fall, 4 songs were added from Shakira, who personally has endorsed the program with a focus on Hispanic students. New artists contributing songs also include Sabrina Carpenter, Benson Boone, Lady Gaga and more. We continue to add new songs and features for this non-profit doing so much to bring coding to students around the world.
“El Subliminoso” from Dada
Dada was signed to IRS Records in 1991 and released their first album {Puzzle, produced by Ken Scott (Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, many more), in 1992. Their third album and their last for IRS is “El Subliminoso” and through the intricacies of music rights, the album was stuck in limbo and had never been released to the streaming services - until now. Calio Music worked with Universal Music Group to bring this fan-favorite to digital stores worldwide in November 2024, after the band toured nationally all through 2024 to sold out venues and rave reviews. There is more coming from Dada - stay tuned!

Formed in 2011, 7Horse blazed their own trail with their raw, swaggerin’ catalog of “dark, sexual rock’n’roll” now streamed over 100 million times and with features across TV shows (Amazon’s The Grand Tour, the NFL playoffs on Fox), video games (Far Cry 5) and one very, very big movie — The Wolf of Wall Street, which showcased the band’s left-of-center hit “Meth Lab Zoso Sticker.”
CALIO MUSIC provided artist management and services for 7Horse, to include the articulation of goals and strategies to achieve them. The band’s album “Superfecta” was recorded in early 2018 and to prepare for launch Calio Music built and led a best-in-class team to release and promote the album which included A&R, distribution, sales and marketing, touring, creative, web, social and paid advertising, PR, sync, and radio. Spotify plays increased over 60% in 2018 alone and today 7Horse has 300,000 monthly listeners.
